Dear members of the Logistics and Transportation Division,

It is my profound honor to address you all and express my deepest gratitude for the trust you have placed in me by electing me to chair the Logistics and Transportation Division for the 2024/2025 term.

Reflecting on our division’s 10th anniversary, we have borne witness to a rapid transformation within the logistics and transportation sector, accompanied by complex challenges that have unfolded over the last decade. We have encountered a myriad of intricate challenges: the uncertainty of global economic trends, shifts in workforce demographics, changing mobility demands due to an aging population, and the heightened emphasis on sustainability, compelling all of us to confront the implications of climate change.

Despite these challenges, we recognize numerous opportunities for growth and development. The advent of cutting-edge technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), blockchain technology, autonomous driving, automated system for toll management and parking, is opening new pathways for enhancement and ingenuity in the our industry.

Looking ahead, our division remain committed to providing platforms for our members to share insights, forgo strong partnerships, and foster innovation and excellence within the engineering community.

Given the opportunities and challenges facing our industry, I pledge to lead our division with a collaborative spirit. To realize this vision, it is imperative to fortify our industry by enhancing synergy not only within the various divisions of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, but also with other institutions and organizations in Hong Kong and across the Greater Bay Area.

Furthermore, I am dedicated to inspiring and motivating the minds of young engineers, encouraging them to become part of our journey. It is crucial that we nurture the next generation, equipping them with a diverse range of skills that encompass the emerging technologies and digital proficiency in our industry.

I am confident that, together, we will adeptly navigate the complexities of our industry and emerge stronger, poised to seize the opportunities to expand our horizon. I would therefore look forward to your continuous support and participation in our upcoming events and activities.
