It is my great honor to be the Chairman of LT Division for Session 2023/2024.  

There are so many challenges ahead with the logistics and transportation profession. Under the big theme of sustainability and green initiatives, electric vehicles (EV) with new energy like hydrogen and next-generation lithium batteries, we have to follow the timetable of our Country to reach carbon peak at 2030 and neutrality by 2060. Other transport related challenges include the fast recharging of EV, cross-harbour tunnels flow balancing, extend the utilization of the HK-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, and connectivity among the existing and proposed New Towns within Hong Kong, etc.

While for the logistics engineering side, under the HKSAR Government’s push for New Industrialisation (previously termed as Re-industrialisation), high degree of automation and application of technologies is on a hot move. Robots, IoT, Block Chains, RFID, etc. are now becoming just ordinary tools. Fast growing business of cold chain, e-commerce, last mile delivery, optimised distribution network, etc. are generating more needs for engineers to upkeep competitiveness.

LT Division will continue to play its role in inspiring innovative solutions; exchange professional views with the authorities and key stakeholders; and provide opportunities for members of our industry to work collaboratively and shape the future of logistics and transportation development in Hong Kong.

The HKSAR Transport and Logistics Bureau will be one of our major ‘partners’ to guide the directions of our LT engineers. We shall also promote smart mobility and modern logistics through technical seminars, visits, workshops, and social/network events. Through our close collaboration with tertiary institutions, one of our priorities is to nurture and encourage more young talents to join the Division, Discipline, and the Industry.

Though there are many challenges ahead, I am confident that with the enthusiastic dedication and commitment of our members, our planned activities will help us gain more insight into the latest trends and technological development in the industry and create inspiration for our members. I would therefore like to call on your continued support and active participation for our upcoming events.
