Report

Annual Symposium 2019

By Ir Carmen CHU

The Annual Symposium of the LT Division was held on 6 April 2019 at the University of Hong Kong. Under this year’s theme “How Smart Mobility Analytics are Changing the Transport and Logistics Industry?”, the symposium offered an interactive platform for professionals from the industry and representative from the government to share their experience and insights on the latest applications and development of smart mobility.

The symposium began with a welcoming speech by Ir Dr Stephen Lam, Chairman of the LT Division, followed by opening remarks by the Guest of Honour, Ir Michael Law, the Assistant Commissioner / Urban of the Transport Department, who shared the smart mobility initiatives of the government under the Hong Kong Smart City Blueprint. Four distinguished guest speakers from the industry, including Mr Chris Au Yeung from Airport Authority Hong Kong, Mr Jens-Peter Brauner from Siemens Mobility Limited Hong Kong, Mr Eric Wong from Marina Container Lines Ltd, and Mr Alex Liu from Didi Chuxing, delivered speeches on broad range of new technologies that are being adopted to enhance the mobility of people and goods in Hong Kong. Through dialogue amongst the speakers and the participants under a panel discussion session, all participants were engaged to build a collective understanding of how the industry and the government worked together towards smarter mobility for the future of Hong Kong.

Finally, Ir Dr Patrick Lee, Vice Chairman of the LT Division, delivered a closing address to conclude the symposium.
