SMART MRO Logistics – Key Challenges for Aviation Customer in Hong Kong

Date, Time and Venue

4 June 2019 (Tue), 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the HKIE HQ 9/F – James Chiu & Dragages Rooms

Speaker(s) (if applicable)

Ms Cindy Chan, General Manager, Logistics Operation and

Mr Gary H L Chan, Senior Key Account Manager, SF DHL Supply Chain China

Programme highlight

A wide body aircraft has 1.2 m - 3 m parts while a jumbo aircraft has 3 m – 7 m parts.  The adoption of smart MRO logistics is critical to enhance overall airline performance.  The technical seminar would focus on aviation challenges and how SF DHL provided sustainable solution to overcome such concerns addressed by airline or MRO customer.

Key Challenges for Aviation Customer

A MRO provider typically also provides services for aircraft maintenance, stores and logistics operations.

·   MRO and Airlines view aircraft maintenance activities as their core  competency which supply chain activities are less focus

·      Without professional supply chain expertise, they can only deliver satisfactory supply chain service level, traceability and visibility. In a meanwhile, they would like to achieve more than expected

·      This resulted in:

Ø  Higher inventory levels

Ø  Poor control and visibility of parts

Ø  Higher P1/AOG (highest priority level: Aircraft On Ground) shipment and cost

Ø  Lower engineer productivity

Ø  Lower overall airline performance
